A freebie or for-sale item distributed through places typically not associated with video cassettes, such as gas stations, fast food chains or drug stores. The name of the establishment is normally printed on the video cover. 

A promotional item could also be a programming sample given out to the public to promote the program(s). These differ from "screeners" or "promotional copies" which are NOT intended for the public but rather retailers.
