They had the perfect love affair. Until they fell in love.

A 1970s style romantic comedy. Steve is a philandering American businessman living in London, heavily inclined towards cheating his lovely wife Gloria. He meets divorced British fashion designer Vicki, and soon the two go on a secret holiday together in Spain. They rent a flat for their trysts -- and constant arguments -- in a seedy London building filled with prostitutes. A friend, Walter, tries to give Steve some good advice, but Steve won't listen until it's too late.

A happily-married American man and an English divorcée have a purely physical vacation fling. They continue what they think is an uncomplicated affair when they return to London, but soon realize that it has become very complicated because they have fallen in love.

The film won the Academy Award for Best Actress (Glenda Jackson) and was nominated for Best Music, Original Dramatic Score, Best Music, Song (for George Barrie and Sammy Cahn for "All That Love Went to Waste"), Best Picture and Best Writing, Story and Screenplay Based on Factual Material or Material Not Previously Published or Produced. Both Segal and Jackson won the Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor and Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.
