There's something about putting in a VHS tape and watching it in all its flawed glory. Today's movies on bluray and even DVD seems to me, at least in my eyes, fake. Its so clear and detailed that it seems fake and even to the point of unbelievable. VHS (and even beta) has this "oldtime" quality that I love, the way auto-tracking (or tracking) adjusts, the blemishes of the tape (film) and even the artwork of the sleeves. Nostalgic? Sure...but I can tell you honestly that going back to VHS as my main source of watching movies has been worthwhile and entertaining for both my wife and I. Dont get me wrong, we still have our bluray and a collection of bluray movies...its just that we prefer our VHS.
