The White Buffalo (1977)

Additional Information

Additional Information
After the huge success of JAWS in 1975 , studios rushed out to duplicate its success about nature strikes back. TENTACLES, EMPIRE OF THE ANTS, SQUIRM, DAY OF THE ANIMALS all were released and turned a profit. All of them were by independent studios. Dino DeLaurentis promised that his 1976 Paramount release of KING KONG would out gross JAWS. Not even close.

In 1977 he combined JAWS and MOBY DICK in the mythical western-THE WHITE BUFFALO. Despite one of the most bankable of the stars of the 70s-Charles Bronson headlining, it didn't help. It was a dud, but later admired by many as it became a cult classic.

Trivia: Which other film did this producer make that tried to also imitate JAWS success? What was the irony of that films title in relation to JAWS? What actress came out of retirement for THE WHITE BUFFALO?
