Get Involved!
VHSCollector.com's main purpose isn't to sell any product or make money from ads. The site was conceived as an informational database for all collectors around the globe! From formats to distributors, it's goal is to inform about the most successful home video market to date. But for this to work, we must rely on the support of fellow collectors to contribute to the database.
Why does this benefit the collector? With our distributor catalogs growing, major players in the collecting community will have definitive lists and catalogs displaying what they could be missing from their own collections. From the popular horror genre, to the more obscure B films, we aim to complete these catalogs so that you're not missing a thing!
What VHSCollector.com IS NOT or DOESN'T do:
-We don't steal cover scans. Unlike some other sites, we don't cruise the net for images, stealing them from message boards, blogs, etc. Everything in the database is from a user's personal collection of which they took the time to scan. This is why all scans are watermarked, to ensure that if an image wounds up all over the net, it could be traced back to us, and then to the user who uploaded it.
- We are not a site to gawk at artwork. We may write articles on the artwork or particular trends in home video, but the purpose is not to just throw up images. All covers added to the site are required to have a form filled out with it, which includes the distributor, year of distribution, original title, etc. This ensures that all information on the site is easily accessible. We also encourage people to comment on the covers and distributors, submit corrections they might find, and add any other information they may have on a particular topic.
